“Back to Eden”

Yuri Baranovsky’s “Back to Eden,” performed in the Studio Theater, room 3202, as the school’s first performance of the year, ran October 21-24. Directed by Mr. Joshua Estrin, the play, published in 2003, is a comedic interpretation of the story of Adam and Eve. When a man and woman find themselves in a vast empty space, only accompanied by a door and each other, a businessman appears and offers to build them the world. They jump at the opportunity, but what at first seemed like the perfect world begins to go wrong. They soon discover that maybe they shouldn’t have questioned things at all. Starring sophomores Jessica Hincapie, Ted Tundidor, Anabelle Bivins, and Michael Montesi, and freshman Delaney Kline, this truly amazing performance sold out a week before opening night. The show’s deep meaning was portrayed perfectly by the actors. Bivins, Hincapie, and Tundidor were truly amazing. Bivins had great comedic timing, and her expressions and movements showed a range of emotions. Also including a little audience participation that connected the audience with the cast, the show’s modern spin on the story of Adam and Eve kept the audience entertained and was both witty and provocative.

“Sweeney Todd”

Stephen Sondheim’s musical “Sweeney Todd” will be performed in the Blackbox Theater. Directed by Mr. Jim Usher, the show stars seniors Adam Glickman and Katrina Kiss, junior Christian Thompson, and sophomores Samantha Sadicario and Joshua Grosso, and freshman Pablo Torres. Sweeney Todd, portrayed by Adam Glickman, is determined to get revenge on Judge Turpin, played by Christian Thompson, because Judge Turpin banished Sweeney Todd and stole his wife and child. This dramatic musical will be performed November 4-7 at 7 pm.
