Holidays Have You Feeling Huge?

After a holiday season of relaxing and eating decadent food, you may find yourself feeling sluggish and out of shape. By making a few simple changes to your fitness program and diet, however, you can get back into shape quickly and easily.

1. Buddy Up

Think about working out with a friend or trainer if you find it difficult to find motivation to exercise. Having another person to workout with will motivate you and allow you to chat while exercising, taking your mind off your grueling workout.

2. Pace Yourself

Set realistic goals and reward yourself once you’ve attained them. Do not, however, reward yourself with food or a break from exercising. This could cause you to lose  momentum.

3. Reward Yourself

Many people get accustomed to eating sweets during the holidays and can’t quit the habit once the season ends. Rather than cutting out sweets completely, indulge yourself every once in a while.

4. Change It Up

If you have no problem with motivation, but usually find yourself bored while at the gym, try to vary your workouts-running outside, taking a yoga class, or riding your bike at the beach are all forms of exercise. You are more likely to exercise if you are enjoying yourself and having fun.

5. Stay Balanced

When overhauling your diet, remember that restricting your diet is never the answer. This may make you binge eat at a later time and cause health problems in the long run. Instead, eat a healthy, balanced diet in moderation.

Rather than feeling lethargic and out of shape, make subtle modifications to your diet and exercise regimen. Working off winter weight is easy, as long as you stay motivated, reward yourself and eat healthfully and in moderation.
