Hey guys! Always wanted to know what stalkers, bored web-surfers, and people who have a closeted disdain for you really think of your life? Rather than be frank and open about yourself in the “real world,” would you feel more comfortable spilling potentially reputation killing tidbits to an anonymous person rather than your best friends? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you have surely posted the annoying “Ask me anything!” Formspring link on your Facebook.
Like “Twitter” was to “Facebook,” Formspring is an unnecessary offshoot to the application Honesty Box, except people ask YOU the questions. After viewing the question, the formspring owner can chose to publicly answer it, completely ignore it, or post the question publicly with a response that they can’t answer that, or a winky face.
Formspring has led to a major increase in cyber bullying, and since the posters are usually anonymous, the victim’s attackers leave an impression that, say, everyone thinks you are a total loser.
Come April 1st, I propose a delightful prank to the creators of Formspring. All of the posters of the questions should be revealed, leaving the teenage Internet world in chaos.
